<div class="section1"><div class="Normal"><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">KARNAL: Independent MLA from Karnal, Jai Parkash Gupta, was grilled for more than seven hours by a police party in a case registered on August 2, 2002 in Indri police station under Section 406, 420 and 120-b read with Section 14 of the prevention of Corruption Act.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">The case was registered against Indri based firm M/S Hari Ram Paras Ram on a complaint by CONFED.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">During the last two years Gupta wrote to police and other authorities on a number of occasions to find out the real culprits who had defrauded the CONFED.
But the case was kept in abeyance for such a long period for obvious reasons. Now as Gupta has fallen from grace of the INLD government after he switched political loyalties the case has been reopened.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">Gupta told the investigators team led by DSP Surinder Singh that he was being framed in case on instructions from Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">Gupta alleged that he had no involvement in the case as CONFED had not signed any agreement with him nor sought any bank guarantee. Gupta told the police team that he incurred the wrath of Chautala during recently held Parliamentary poll when the chief minister got the impression that he was not supporting INLD candidate Ashok Arora.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">Chautala was further incensed when he along with five other Independent MLAs did not support Independent candidate for Rajya Sabha Tarlochan Singh. Gupta told TNN that he was being shadowed by the State CID on orders of Chief Minister.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-family:="" arial="" font-size:="">Over 2,000 supporters of Gupta had gathered in the Civil Secretariat where he was being interrogated. Gupta has joined the investigations on instructions from Court of Additional District Sessions Judge (I) Karnal. The court had ordered Gupta to appear before DSP on July 5.</span></div> </div>
